When Was the Last Time You Had Something to Look Forward to Besides a Business Goal?

A little personal enjoyment belongs alongside your network marketing ambitions.

You know the next promotion date. You know which leader is close to her goal. Ask about the business, and you can tell me what you are working toward. But if I asked what you were looking forward to for yourself this week, would an answer come as quickly?

Maybe there is a restaurant you have wanted to try. A friend you keep meaning to see. A book you bought because the description sounded so good. You still want those things. They just have a way of staying in the category of “one of these days.” Meanwhile, your business goals have dates, plans, and people celebrating along with you.

You miss having something that is yours

You can love the life you have built and notice something is missing from your ordinary days. It may be the feeling of getting ready to meet a friend. The pleasure of knowing you have another chapter waiting after dinner. The anticipation of going somewhere simply because you want to.

Those are small experiences, but they give a day texture. You have something to talk about besides the business and something to look forward to before the next milestone. Without them, even a full, meaningful life can begin to feel like a sequence of responsibilities.

You do not have to be completely exhausted to want more enjoyment. You can be doing well and still miss this part of yourself. Begin with the feeling you want more of Before choosing an activity, ask what sounds good. Do you want to laugh? Have a little quiet? Be outdoors? Make something with your hands? Spend time with someone whose company you enjoy?

Perhaps you used to love browsing bookstores. Perhaps you remember how good it felt to put on music and cook without rushing. Or perhaps you are curious about something new, but you have been waiting for a big enough reason to try it.

Interest is a reason. Enjoyment is a reason. Your choices do not need to be impressive to belong in your life.

Choose the version you would actually do

If “take a whole afternoon” feels too far away, choose fifteen minutes. Open the book. Invite the friend. Pick a place for coffee. You can make a familiar activity feel personal again by letting it be for pleasure. A walk can have music or quiet instead of a leadership training. A photograph can stay on your phone because you like it.

Give yourself something to anticipate

Choose three moments for the coming week. They can be small, and you can repeat something you like. The important part is having an answer when you ask, “What am I looking forward to?”

That might be a novel tonight, coffee with a friend on Friday, and a little time in the garden over the weekend. These choices give your personal life a presence in your week. You are also a woman with interests and preferences that deserve attention.

Your ambition can come with you

You can still want more income, your next rank, and a growing team. Personal care may support the energy and attention you bring to the work those goals require. As you try your chosen activities, notice whether you feel more refreshed, interested, or ready to begin.

You can also notice whether it helps you follow through on one business action you care about. That is useful information, rather than a promise of a particular sales result. An enjoyable afternoon also counts even if it changes nothing on your business tracker.

You do not have to wait until the business is finished to take care of the woman building it. Choose something you would be happy to have in your day. Then let yourself look forward to it.
